Woodward - Day 4

Kent and I visited camp on Wednesday to check on the boys.  It always takes some time to find them since the camp is fairly big with several skate parks (I counted 14).  We stopped by the smoothie bar for a strawberry/Red Bull smoothie to keep us hydrated on our hunt.

We found Levi first.  He was so excited to tell us about the Digital Media Camp he is in and all the photos he has taken.  He took us to the media lab and we were impressed with what he is learning.  Wow!  Levi got some awesome shots!  I can't wait until he comes home and can post some of the photos here.  For now, I have a screen shot (of sorts) of one of my favorites that he took.  You can't tell but it's a panoramic view of the camp after a heavy rain.  I love it!

Below - Again, you can't tell much since it is a picture of a picture but take it from me - it's a cool shot.  Great job Levi!

See this kid?  His name is Clay and he is 14 years old.  From what I have gathered from the other skaters, Clay is in the X Games.  Every time we go to camp - this kid is skating the mini mega ramp and doing some unbelievable tricks.  I could watch him all day. I could also take pictures of him all day but that could just be because he isn't trying to get away from me before someone thinks I'm his mom.  (Yes, that was directed at Tanner)

This is Clay also:

After some searching, we found Tanner.  I should mention that Tanner wasn't "lost" but with so many  skaters with helmets on, they kind of look alike.  Finding a particular 10 year old isn't easy when they have the run of the place and so many places to skate.  I thought after a few days without me he would miss me and be homesick.  I won't go into the mental image I had of him running to me screaming "Mom, I'm so glad you are here!  I miss you!  Please come watch me skate and don't ever leave!" .....Hasn't happened yet. I'm still hopeful.  In the end, we had to sneak up on him.  I had to keep my distance so it didn't look like I was his mom.  I felt like we were stalking some sort of wild animal that had to be cornered to catch.  ;-)  Levi, Kent and I had to come at him from different angles and hem him in to talk to the little bugger.  Sheesh.

Tanner did tell me he missed me too.  Well, maybe not out loud but I'm sure that is the look he gave me.  I'm sure of it.  See?  Look at this photo - doesn't that look like a child who misses his mom?  (NOT a child trying to skate away, right?)

We convinced him to get ice cream with us.....

Levi wasn't embarrassed.  He said it was because I wasn't HIS mom so he didn't care.  Cute.

I tried to sneak in a couple of pictures of Tanner while he wasn't looking.....

....but he caught me and decided enough was enough and tried to get away.  I did see the tiniest grin on his face.
You can't tell from the photos but I don't think that white shirt can be salvaged.  It looked like he had a fight with chocolate ice cream and dirt.

And this is how Woodward does a water slide:

We didn't hang around for the actual "sliding" but the set up looked like fun!

For fun - the last photo for now.....
this is the last thing you see as you leave Camp Woodward:

I love Camp Woodward.
